It is an important organic intermediate, and its applications are mainly concentrated in the following fields:
Polyester Fiber Modification
As a key modifying monomer in polyester synthesis, it can significantly enhance the dyeing performance and thermal stability of the fibers. The tert-butyl side chain can increase the free volume of the polyester chain segments, reduce the dyeing temperature and improve the dye uptake rate, and is suitable for the production of industrial fibers such as tire cord yarns.
2. Polymer Material Synthesis
Nylon Engineering Plastic: By conducting condensation polymerization with other diacids or amines, high-performance nylon materials can be produced, which are used in automotive components and electronic components.
Polyurethane Elastomer: As a raw material for polybasic acids in the synthesis of polyester polyols, it is used to manufacture high-temperature-resistant polyurethane foams.
3. Chemical Reagents and Catalysis
As intermediates in organic synthesis, for instance, they are used to prepare plasticizers or lubricants through esterification reactions.
Their tert-butyl structure can also be utilized to protect carboxyl groups, thereby preventing side reactions.
